We are pleased to extend a warm welcome to our new students at IIMA. The first Postgraduate Programme (PGP) is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary on July 1st, 2024. This programme was inaugurated by Shri Balvantray Mehta, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat on July 1st, 1964, in the Auditorium of ATIRA. To gain insight into the excitement felt by our stakeholders 60 years ago, we invite you to explore a letter written by Prof. Kamla Chowdhry (IIMA's first faculty member) to Prof. Harry Hansen (the Director of HBS's Division of International Programmes) dated June 30th, 1964. This letter is presented as the document of the month. This document also includes background details of the students from the Second Annual Report (1963-64) of the Institute. For further information regarding inquiries, applications received, and the background of students, we encourage you to refer to our previous snippet on the PGP Inauguration, July, 1964. Additionally, a selection of captivating and rare photos from our collection showcasing the inaugural event, classrooms, hostel, and mess facilities from the early days can be accessed through this link. To delve deeper about the first PGP Committee, we recommend reading an engaging article from our Newsletter. Furthermore, we invite you to view video snippets featuring some students from the first PGP in our oral history collection. Links to interviews with Dilnavaz Variava and Alok Chakrabarti are provided. |
