Eminent psychoanalyst, writer, and novelist Prof. Sudhir Kakar (1938-2024), who was associated with IIMA in the 1960s, first as a research staff member and later as a faculty in the Organizational Behaviour Area from 1968 to 1971, passed away on April 22, 2024 (source: The Hindu). More information about him and his work can be found on his webpage on this link. His life, including his experience at IIMA, was chronicled in his autobiography in 2014, A Book of Memory. We interviewed him as part of the IIMA Archives Oral History Project in 2018 and present a video snippet below: - Prof. Sudhir Kakar on his time at IIMA in the 1960s [1 minute] As the featured document of the month, we present archival annual reports detailing Prof. Kakar's journey from being appointed as a fellow in 1964-65 to becoming a faculty member on October 24, 1968. The document also highlights some of his research projects in 1970-71, as well as entries in the alumni magazine, Alumnus, featuring Prof. Kakar in 1988 and 2003. Prof. Sudhir Kakar also happened to be the nephew of the first faculty member of IIMA, Dr. Kamla Chowdhry. |
