Previous | 'PARINAY': The first film shot on campus, 1974 (February - 2023) | Next |
Did you know that the first film to be shot on campus was the 1974 movie 'PARINAY'? The movie starred Shabana Azmi and Romesh Sharma. It was produced by Samantar Chitra Private Ltd., and directed by Kantilal Rathod. 'PARINAY' was awarded the 'Rajat Kamal Special Award for the best feature film on National Integration' (now known as the 'Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration'). Shabana Azmi and Romesh Sharma received medallions for their performances in the movie. As documents of the month, we present a short clip (Source: YouTube) with a few IIMA locations; the 22nd National Film Festival Citation by Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India; and a rather critical review of the movie from the TOI, April 6, 1975: 'Parinay': Abounding in negative virtues. |
