This month's archival spotlight shines on Mr. Ashank Desai, Principal Founder, and Chairman of Mastek. An alumnus of IIMA from the Class of 1979, he recently returned to his alma mater as the Chief Guest of IIMA Special Convocation for Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Business Analytics, held on April 16, 2025. Our featured document of the month showcases a curated collection of archival documents and photographs that highlight Mr. Ashank Desai from our extensive collections at IIMA Archives. This compilation includes the face chart of his classroom, a mention of him as a "Stickler for academics" from the 1979 Yearbook, excerpts from various alumni magazines over the years, and annual reports during his time as a member of the IIMA Board of Governors, as well as excerpts from the book "Stay Hungry Stay Foolish: The inspiring stories of 25 IIM Ahmedabad graduates who chose to tread a path of their own making" authored by Ms. Rashmi Bansal in 2008, which featured him as "Software Cowboy." Additionally, it covers his contributions over the years and the establishment of the Ashank Desai Centre for Leadership and Organisational Development at IIMA in June 2021.
