Madan Mohan Mohanka (1943- ), grew up in Jamshedpur and joined the second batch of IIMA (PGP 1965-67). One of the first alumni-entrepreneurs of IIMA, he is the founder of Tega Industries which is today a global leader in designing and manufacturing of consumables for the mining, mineral processing and material handling industries. His biography titled 'I Did What I Had To Do' was released in 2023. He has also been a major donor to IIMA’s activities over the decades. In this interview, he reflects on his early years, the challenges of dealing with IIMA’s pedagogy coming from a Hindi-medium background, various IIMA campus activities, the lasting influence of Prof. Mote on his life and career, the various contributions made to IIMA over the years, especially in case writing, and the management mantras used for running his business.
