This special snippet focusses on Mr. Ajaypal Singh Banga (IIMA, PGP 1981), who has been selected as the President of the World Bank on May 3, 2023. He will be starting his tenure of five years from June 2, 2023. He is the first person of Indian origin to hold this prestigious position. After graduating from IIMA in 1981, he worked with Nestle India for 13 years, then at PepsiCo for 2 years, at Citigroup from 1996 to 2009 and then since 2010 he worked at Mastercard until his retirement in 2021. He then served as Vice Chairman at General Atlantic for 2 years (Source: Financial Express). Mr. Banga was invited as the Chief Guest at the 50th Convocation at IIMA, which was titled as "Celebrating Yesterday's Dream: The Golden Jubilee Convocation, 2015". In the year 2014-15, he along with his wife, Ms. Ritu Banga (PGP, 1981), set up PGP Scholarships named "Ajay Banga Industry Scholarship" and "Ritu Banga Industry Scholarship" and has been generously contributing since then.
