In the first week of every month, IIMA Archives will share a snippet about IIMA's history.
This week, we share information about the first location of IIMA in the early 1960s, a bungalow in Shahibaug. Attached is a document that contains reflections on those days, published in IIMA's Contact magazine edition of 1980. Learn about Miyajan, the cook, the first receptionist, the first staff and faculty, how cases were airlifted from USA those days, and so on.
Also attached is a letter addressed to Dr. Vikram Sarabhai that shows the address of IIMA as "310, Camp Road, Shahibaug" on the letterhead. Photographs of the bungalow and first library space can be viewed in this photo album on the IIMA Archives website.
The bungalow no longer exists but the memories do.
