We are pleased to announce the launch of 'Brick by Brick', the newsletter of the IIMA Archives. The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) was founded in 1961, and has emerged as a world-class management education institute. The IIMA Archives was established in November 2017 to preserve institutional and architectural memory, and periodically disseminate historical information about the institute to the IIMA community and the general public.

The Archives has completed the identification and the organization of the material pertaining to the first 30 years of the Institute's existence (1961-91). It launched 'Brick by Brick', a permanent exhibition displaying features of the early life of the Institute, on November 10, 2021. It is now collecting and organizing material related to recent years.

The IIMA Archives aims to strengthen IIMA's brand and identity through a digital connect with the stakeholders of IIMA, that focuses on the history and legacy of the Institute. In the long run, it hopes to become a Business History Research Hub, a small beginning towards which was made with documents and directories related to Indian business history.

The newsletter will be brought out at the end of every quarter. This first issue offers fascinating insights into the rich history of IIMA: Who were the key early institution builders? How did the campus become an iconic site? What sports activities did our students enjoy in the early days? Did the institute really begin in a rented house? Do our students care for our heritage? In addition, in line with our efforts to network with other heritage-related organizations, we feature the Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum, a landmark of Ahmedabad city.
